10.) "Choices, Choices, Choices"

Equipment:

  • Three decoys in full bite suits.
  • One clatter stick.
  • Three hiding places each about 10 yards apart.

"Choices, Choices, Choices" Scenario:

  • You and your K-9 are on the lookout for a convicted criminal who has escaped from jail.
  • You spot the escapee armed with a stick as he steps out of a hiding place.
  • You are about 80 yards away with your K-9 and you call out for the criminal to give up.
  • The criminal shakes the (clatter) stick at you as he turns and flees.
  • You send your K-9 and follow as best you can.
  • Just as you your dog leaves, two innocent people come inrto view 80 yards away. One 10 yards to the left of the fleeing criminal and the other 10 yards to the fleeing criminal's right.
  • The innocent people are walking slowly in oppisite directions, away from the criminal between them.
  • Your K-9 must continue on toward the fleeing criminal you sent him after.
  • The K-9 must not bite either innocent bystander.
  • If the K-9 does veer off toward either of the innocent bystanders, you must be able to recall and/or redirect your K-9.
  • Your K-9 should apprehend the fleeing criminal without having bitten either innocent bystander.
  • When the criminal is aprehended and you arrive on the scene, the K-9 must release on command and guard him while you search him for weapons.
